Who Is Mandy?

Who Is Mandy?

It's not the Aussie lady — though she's lovely.

Long before there was a nursery, a florist, or a timber-framed barn on this land, there was Mandy — a pioneer and farmer who worked the rolling hills of Granville, New York, in an era when neighbors depended on one another to survive.

The story goes that Mandy's farm sat atop a natural spring. During dry seasons, when nearby farms struggled, Mandy shared her water freely — no questions asked, no debt owed. It was an act of quiet generosity that sustained the community around her.

That spring still flows through our 200-acre property today. When the Smith family transformed the old dairy barn into a garden center in 1984, they chose to honor Mandy's legacy — naming the nursery after the woman whose spirit of generosity and deep connection to the land had shaped this place for generations.

A Name That Means Something

We carry Mandy's name because we carry her values: share what you have, tend what you grow, and show up for your community. It's the same philosophy that guides every plant we grow, every piece of advice we give, and every season we welcome you through our doors.

So when you visit Mandy Spring Farm Nursery, you're not just visiting a garden center. You're stepping onto land with a story — one rooted in generosity, hard work, and a deep love of growing things.
